A word from the Governor

The Rotary International Forum on the Future of International Organizations, which District 1660 will have the honor of hosting at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on Saturday, March 14, 2026, promises to be a historic event.

Our ambition is to bring together more than 1,000 participants from five continents: leaders of international organizations, diplomats, academics, entrepreneurs, Rotarians, Rotaractors, and committed civil society actors.

I wanted to launch this Forum because the world is undergoing profound change. Geopolitical balances are shifting, health and climate crises are intensifying, institutions are being called into question, and people are expressing a growing need for trust, listening, and cooperation.

More than ever, peace and multilateralism must be reinvented.

Present in more than 200 countries, Rotary is one of the few networks capable of fostering dialogue across borders, cultures, and differences, in a spirit of listening, ethics, and mutual respect.

This Forum is a natural continuation of our history: Rotary contributed to the creation of UNESCO in 1942, and to the drafting of the Charter of the United Nations Charter in 1945, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. Today, we still bear this responsibility.

This Forum will be a space for reflection, but also for concrete proposals around three major issues:

  • Culture, Peace, and Education (UNESCO)
  • Global health and governance (WHO)
  • Youth, Innovation, and the Future of Multilateralism (UNICEF)

The ideas, recommendations, and courses of action that emerge from the discussions will be compiled in an official white paper, which will be submitted to UNESCO, WHO, and UNICEF to inform international thinking on global governance and the building of lasting peace.

The day before, on Friday, March 13, an opening dinner will bring together 300 guests in Paris, attended by Rotary International President Francesco Arezzo. Places are limited, so I invite you to reserve your place now.

I look forward to welcoming each and every one of you to Paris, the universal capital of dialogue and culture. Your diversity, your experiences, and your convictions will be the true wealth of this Forum, because peace is built through encounter, mutual understanding, and collective action.

Warm regards and my loyal friendship,
Mamadou Camara
