Ardavan Amir-Aslani, 60, Doctor of Law, Lawyer at the Paris Bar and French Foreign Trade Advisor, appointed by Decree of July 26, 2023.
He is one of the main partners at Cohen Amir-Aslani, an international business law firm with around thirty lawyers, where he heads up the international law and government advisory departments.
Ardavan Amir-Aslani, a renowned expert in international public law, represents several states around the world. In this capacity, he regularly assists them in negotiating and drafting international contracts and represents them before international courts and arbitration tribunals. He has acted as counsel to states in drafting their domestic laws in various fields.
He has developed expertise in strategic thinking, implementation, and management of multi-jurisdictional litigation at the international level, particularly in the recovery of assets misappropriated from states, the recovery of jumbo bank and institutional debts, and cases involving corruption of public officials (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 (FCPA) (15 U.S.C. §§ 78dd-1, et seq.) and the OECD's Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in International Business Transactions dated November 21, 1997).
He has also extended his expertise to the protection of tangible and intangible assets, enabling the prevention and/or significant reduction of the risk of asset seizure by protecting commercial and personal assets from third-party claims. His asset protection plans, which employ sophisticated multi-jurisdictional legal strategies implemented either prior to or during legal proceedings, have repeatedly deterred third-party claimants internationally and prevented the effective seizure of assets. He is also considered one of the foremost experts on domestic and international sanctions imposed by sovereign states and international organizations and has advised dozens of individuals and entities in this regard. Ardavan Amir-Aslani has represented government authorities, international organizations, and multilateral agencies in sanctions-related matters in multi-billion dollar international litigation. He has also represented individuals and legal entities in a large number of international disputes related to economic sanctions.
He is also the author of numerous articles on business law in general and international law in particular. He is regularly invited to speak at conferences on public and private international law and has co-edited and contributed to a series of books on international debt recovery (Debt Recovery in Europe, published by Helbing Lichtenhahn Verlag).
Ardavan Amir-Aslani is also an essayist and specialist in Middle Eastern geopolitics. He is the author of numerous books on international relations. He is interested in comparative theology and religion in general. He is regularly consulted by French and foreign think tanks, as well as by military commissions, on subjects related to political and geostrategic issues in the Middle East.
He is a Colonel in the National Gendarmerie and an honorary hussar in the 1st Parachute Hussar Regiment. He is registered on the list of counsel for the International Criminal Court.
